$5.2 million investment will further help scale the platform and tackle the increasing demand for 3D content
CGHero, a platform enabling companies, brands, studios and content producers to collaborate with teams of the world’s leading CGI, 3D, VFX and AR/VR talent, has announced a $5.2 million investment led by the ProVen VCTs.
The funds will be used to further scale the platform as the need for 3D content and specialist talent continues to grow with the introduction of the Metaverse. As companies race to establish themselves alongside Meta, formerly known as Facebook, there is an increasing need for content to populate these experiences. To date, the platform has been responsible for delivering content across 1,000 productions for companies including Netflix, Disney, Epic Games, SEGA, NHS, BBC, Valvoline, LG and Unilever.
Eyal Malinger of Beringea, the investment manager of the ProVen VCTs, commented: “CGHero sits at the intersection of two fundamental trends shaping the global economy: the rise of the metaverse and the future of work. As we see the widespread adoption of AR and VR, demand for 3D content – and the specialist talent required to develop it – will increase dramatically.”
Jonathan Lloyd, CEO of CGHero, said: “It is exciting to bring together incredible teams from around the world to create next-generation immersive content and experiences. The scale of projects we are seeing is unprecedented, and entire worlds of content are needed. Our growing team will enable us to support more clients and build on our platform capabilities to meet the demand.”
Jonathan has been in the computer graphics industry for over 15 years in senior management roles and was the former VP of Strategic Development and Product Development at TurboSquid, the world’s leading 3D marketplace.
In order to scale up its capacity to deliver these projects, CGHero has announced that the investment funds will also be used to significantly expand its Manchester-based team with plans to further expand its operations into the US later this year. The company is currently recruiting for multiple roles across marketing, sales, development, product and operations, including positions as CFO, Senior QA Engineer and Associate Producer.
